Georgia Homestead Exemption

DON’T FORGET TO FILE YOUR HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION!

We want to remind you to file your Homestead Exemption to help save money on your property taxes. Whether or not you are a "new" homeowner this year, under Georgia law, you're entitled to a Homestead Exemption — a reduction in your property taxes — for any property you own and occupy as your primary residence as of January 1. However, the savings are not automatic. Be sure to file for this exemption on time to save on your taxes.

When is the deadline to apply?
April 1, 2024

Do I qualify?
The property must be your principal place of residence as of January 1, 2024. This means that even if you have forgotten to apply for homestead exemption in the past, you're still eligible!!

What do I need?
A copy of your settlement statement (or warranty deed) & any vehicles you own must be registered in the county in which you live
